Detail map of Pearis RAYMOND land in Section 15

Pearis Raymond bought 100 acres of land divided between sections 34 and 15 in Appanoose Township (T.7 N.-R.8 W.), Hancock county from Robert D. Foster. He paid $1200 on 1 Jan 1844. He bought 80 acres cornered in the northeast corner of the NE quarter of section 34 as well as 20 acres, the N ½ of the NE ¼ of the SW ¼ of section 15. When the saints fled Nauvoo, Pearis resold the land for $200.

Shown here is the land in section 15.

Appanoose township is northeast of Nauvoo. Highway 96 starts at the bridge across the Mississippi from Fort Madison in Niota, Illinois. It proceeds south passed the smaller Raymond farm, by the new Nauvoo high school not far from the larger Raymond farm, turns abruptly west and heads into Nauvoo.
