JOHN LOGAN
Born May 25,1830 in Alabama and died April 12,1913.
His mother was born in Alabama, his father in Pennsylvania. The 1910 census showed him living in Coal county. He married Harriet June Taylor Oct. 11,1858. She is also known as Harriet June Hamilton (It is not clear why she was called Hamilton she was not previously married, according to the 1900 census.)She was born Sept 29,1636. She died about 1909. She came from Tennessee. Her parents were both born in Tennessee. They probably came to Arkansas by 1871, since their sons were both born there. They had 6 children, only 2 were living by 1900. They were in Indian Territory at least by 1893. she was the mother of 6, but only 2 sons were living by 1900:
William Flem Logan,( Apr.1869-about 1908). In 1893 he married Florence. ...(Apr.1879-?) . They lived near Clarita(Tls R8E) .Their children were: Ella(1894) and Bulah(1895), Fredus(1897), Andrew (1898), Ovel(1900), Frank(1903), and Myrtle(1907). One of the sisters married one of Annie Callahan White's sons. Andy was known to have lived years later near Konawa, near the Simpsons. His wife died leaving him to care for 2 small boys. The boys stayed with Willard and Gladys Simpson for several months,
John Benjamin Logan, born Nov.25, 1871, in Arkansas, and died June 21,1932. He married Caloma (or Cloma?) Callahan. she was born in Texas. they were married there in Wapanucka. They and their family lived in the elder John Logan's home in the Choctaw nation (TlS,R8E) in 1900. ???Her brother Jim(James S.) Calahan also lived in the area. He married a woman named Naomi(Oma) Ball. Caloma's sisters, May Christopher, Annie White, Rudie Phillips and Kate Phillips (they married brothers) also lived in the area for a while. Caloma was born March 28,1877 and died March 24,1908 leaving eight children from 11 months to 14 years of age. Mrs. Joe Maytubby (Theodosia Kemp)volunteered to help raise the children. They had lived on the Maytubby farm as sharecroppers for some time. Some of the children actually stayed in their home. They remained under the care of the Maytubbys until all the children were married. The Maytubby's had only one son who tragically, was killed in an auto accident ab!
out 1930. Caloma Calahan was buried in Moore cemetary near Clarita. No headstone has been found however. John B. Logan later married Neely Wood about 1930. he is buried in Rose Hill Cemetary. John and Caloma's children were

An unclear connection exists between the Logan Family and the Taylor family. It centers around the person of Harriet June Taylor, the wife of James Logan. She was obviously related to the Taylor family, but in what way is not known. Gladys Simpson recalls that her father was known to be a second cousin to Ruth Richards Stamps, the daughter of Ida Lenora Taylor. Further, she called Abram Wantland Taylor, "Cousin Abe". He may actually have been her great uncle. She also spoke of Cousin Doc Taylor postmaster. she says Granpa and Grandma Logan lived in a little house on Doc Taylor's property. Harriet Taylor was probably a younger sister of Stephen Taylor. The importance of this connection is that the Taylors were known to have come from Bradley county, Tenn. They were there in 1860, although they appear to have lived in Arkansas for a while in the 1870s. They came to Indian Territory about 1878. There were apparently other related Taylor families who came West with Stephen Taylor.!
family. They are the predominate family in the Wapanucka.
Harriet June Taylor's other name( Hamilton) perhaps could be the result of a misinterpretation of a written record that showed her coming from Hamilton county in Tennessee. If she were Stephen Taylor.' sister, or even a cousin, she might very well have lived in Hamilton county, which adjoins Bradley county. A further hint is that John Logan was born in Alabama, and the Alabama border is just a few miles from Bradley and Hamilton counties.
