General Notes: Wife - Anna Bolden Callahan
Ray, we will tell you more about David and Anna. David Aklis White and
Anna Bolden Callhan were married in 1892 in Wapanucka, Indian Territory.
They had the following children: Johnnie S. in 1893, Claude Atkins in 1895,
May in 1896, Mollie Elizabeth in 1898, Julia Pearl "Jude" in 1900, David
Aklis, Jr. "Dave" in 1902, Lucy Alice in 1903, Carrie Beatrice "Bead" in
1905, and Dora Ella "Doad" in 1907. David and Anna spent a little bit of
time in Arkansas but we don't know when or where. There is a story of when
they were coming from Arkansas, they got to Atoka and one of the horses died
there. And Uncle Johnnie (the oldest boy) walked and carried that horse's
side of the tongue back to the Wapanucka area.
The only Carrie that we know of is Carrie Beatrice. She married Carl
Atkins but they did not have any children.
A gentleman at Tishomingo that has helped us some with genealogy worked
at the Chickasaw Indian Council. His last name was Nail and he is a
full-blood Indian. However, the last time we were there, he wasn't working
there.
At Kenefic, where Tommy's oldest brother lives used to be named Nail
after the Nail Crossing on Blue River.
We are both retired and have an RV and travel some but so far we haven't
gone very much. (A guy Tommy used to go to school with lives down there
somewhere).

8/24/2014 - UNPROVEN CONNECTION: Added Edward Callahan as a son of James and Mary (Foley) Callahan, based on the claim made many years ago by Annie (Phillips) McAlilly that her grandfather James Sanford Callahan (b. 1844) was a first cousin of Nancy (Callahan) Greer (b. 1850), daughter of Edward and Clora (Stacy) Callahan. In order for this relationship to be valid, the father's of James Sanford Callahan (James Hughes Callahan) and Nancy (Callahan) Greer (Edward Callahan) would have had to be brothers. While this is not yet confirmed by census or other formal records, I believe there is sufficient evidence to justify making this family connection, on a conditional basis.
