Luther Martin Gooch (1865 - abt 1945)
Luther Martin Gooch was a brother of William Elijah Gooch.
It is believed that he had a twin brother, Other (Otha) Gooch.
Luther Martin Gooch went to Texas in the late 1880's, possibly with other members of the family. He is the grandfather of Bill Gooch, who now lives in Georgetown, Texas.
Luther was a wagon hauler. It appears that he was the wandering kind. He got around, and he didn't stay in one spot for long in his younger years. He first shows up in northeast Texas. He married a woman from Bonham in about 1890.
Then he roamed through Texas, showing up in Jones County, Mills County, and areas in the Texas Hill Country. It seems that he had settled down around Ft. Worth by 1920.
Luther has an early connection to Mills County. His first child was born there in 1892. He seems to be the kind of man that a young Jesse Gooch would have been drawn to, and there may have been an early association.
