Ballard Day married Sylvia Mayfield about 1785. Ballard Day was born 1760 in Louduon, Virginia. Ballard Day died about 1818 in Anderson County, South Carolina. Sylvia (Mayfield) Day died between 1840 and 1850 in Tishomingo County, Mississippi.

Ballard and Sylvia (Mayfield) Day had 17 children between 1786 and 1818. Their son, Johnson Day, was born July 29, 1794 in the Pendleton District of South Carolina.

Johnson Day married Sarah Hembree about 1814. Sarah Hembree was born August 6, 1795 in the Pendleton District of South Carolina.  They had eight children:

James Milford Day

Sylvia Day

Mary (Polly) Day

Mahala J. Day

Sarah Medissa Day

Hepzibah Day

Elizabeth Caroline Day

Meekness Amanda Day

Johnson Day took his family to the Republic of Texas shortly after it was liberated from Mexico. They settled in the town of Seguin.

Johnson Day died July 19, 1838 in Gonzales County, Texas. Family notes indicate he was killed by Indians. Sarah (Hembree) Day died about 1856 in Caldwell County, Texas.

Sarah Medissa Day married James Hughes Callahan March 25, 1843 in Gonzales County, Texas.

A little attachment  about Solomon W. Brill of Poughkeepsie New York.  I have to locate two pages of Sarah Day's diary she wrote  in her later life and will send it to you later. One rather neat point of history is when the son of Nathaniel P. Fulcher's son Thomas Fulcher and his two sons Sid and John were in a shoot out in 1922 and later robbed a train near Clinton Arizona. John got killed in the shoot out and Uncle Tom and Sid got twenty years in the Kansas Federal Pen.  I also think they may have robbed a train on the California boarder and got twenty dollar gold coins that were never found. I am named after my father Carroll Wesley Rogers and he was named after the son of Nathaniel Fulcher whose name was Carroll Rogers of Christoval Texas. My name is Utah Carroll Rogers and I live in Arlington, Texas near the Cowboy ball park.  I worked for the railroad for forty six years out of Forth Worth.  Some of my friends ran through Temple on the ATSF.  I worked for the ATSF in Dallas in the mid fifties, but retired from the BNSF .... My maiden name is Day, and I also have Hembree ancestors. The earliest I have record of is James K. Hembree, born in 1833 in Indiana, married Louisa Jane Black. He was the father of John W. Hembree, born in Oct.19, 1855 in Indiana, who married Martha E. Burns, born March 1852 in Illinois. They lived in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Their children were Minnie, Bea, Rose, Louise, Belle, Koaly, Maude, and Savannah. Rose E. Hembree, their daughter, born 1877, married Henry M. Day, born 24 September 1864, in Polk County Arkansas in 1896. On the 1850 census of Dubois Co. Indiana, Andrew Jackson Hembree and James K. Hembree were living in the household of Rachel Hembree Harbison. They migrated to Arkansas in the 1870's, by way of Missiouri. They went back and forth from Indian territory to Arkansas. They scattered after 1902. Martha A. Hembree is burried in Azle, Texas. If anyone would like to trade information with me, I would love to find a link.

A lady off the internet told me to get in touch with you on the Day family. She thought you might could help me. I descend from a W. Henson Day of Lawrence  Co. Tn. He was born ca 1780  died in the 1830`s. I was wondering if Henson could be a son of Ballard Day. I noticed Ballard`s wife Sylvia died in Tishomingo Mississippi. Henson`s daughter, Nancy Day, born 1806 in South Carolina married James Holloway in 1826 in Lawrence Co. Tn and went to Tishomingo Ms by 1850. Makes me wonder if there isn't a connection.  Henson Day was living on Chicksaw land by 1810 on Elk River in Limestone Co. Al. He was one of the founders of Lawrence Co Tn.  Was Ballard married more than once?

Our Day family is seeking information on my ggg grandfather, James Seward Day.  We know he served in the War of 1812 and was inducted in Ms . from Ms. Militia.  He married later that year, Mary Ann Brent in Pike Co., Ms.  She was born in Fairfield District, S.C. and her father, John Brent served in Rev. War.  The family moved sometime after that war to Pike Co., Ms. About 1822 James and Mary Ann Brent Day moved to Tn., and onto Washington Co., In. where they both died of cholera in 1825, leaving seven children orphans under 13.  We do not have any information concerning James Day's parentage.  We think there may have been an earlier marriage as the 1820 census in Pike Co., Ms. indicates there were 3 older children that were probably not Mary Ann Brent's.

I am very interested to know if you have the names of any of the 17 children of Ballard Day and his wife, Sylvia Mayfield (other than Johnson Day). I am researching David. A. T. Walton (my great great grandfather) who came with his widowed mother (name not known) to Seguin, Texas in 1847. David was born in Alabama in 1837. I reviewed the census of 1850 and found the only 13 year old named David living with Isaac and Nancy Allen. I believe that Nancy Allen is the widow of D. A. T. Walton's father and that she married Isaac Allen. I have been in touch with genealogists in Seguin, Guadelupe, Co., Texas trying to get this all pinned down and they tell me that the Nancy who was married to Isaac Allen is a Day. In viewing the 1850 census, I see that their neighbors were H. B. King whose wife was Mahala Day. Sarah Day also lived close by. If the genealogists in Guadelupe County are correct, the following are the events that took place. D. A. T. Walton's father married Nancy Day in Alabama sometime around 1836 or earlier. (my own records advise D. A. T. Walton born in Moulton County, Alabama in 1837. There is no Moulton County but there is a Moulton, Lawrence County, Alabama which I have visited but can find on record of my Waltons there. According to D. A. T. Walton, his parents were Mr. & Mrs. John A. Walton). D. A. T. Walton's father dies and D. A. T. and his mother come to Guadelupe County, Texas in 1847 (possibly, the Walton widow married before coming to Texas).

In looking for a 13 year old boy named David in Guadelupe County, the only one I can find in the 1850 census is:

Isaac Allen, age 51, born Tenn.

Nancy Allen, age 31, born Tenn.

David Allen, age 13, born Alabama

D. A. T. Walton enlists in Capt. Callahan's company in summer 1855 and participates in raid into Mexico. Mustered out in October, 1855. Do you have any information that would confirm:

Nancy Day married John L. Walton or a David Walton?

Nancy Day eventually married Isaac Allen?

Whatever happened to Nancy Day Walton Allen? That Nancy was one of the 17 children of Ballard or Sylvia Day?

Any help would be appreciated.

Came across your home page and saw many family names...I am descended from Ballard Day etc, also. Just last summer I was able to find the grave site of his grandson James M. Day. Do your records go back farther than Ballard? If not, let me know. Ballard's g-g-g- grandaughter, Mettie LaVerna Day is my grandmother. She is living with us and will be celebrating her 100th bithday on April 1.

I am trying to trace the line of Elwin/Edwin Day born in abt 1846 in  IN. He reports his father's name is Stephen Day born in NJ. It appears that Stephen Day had a school has on his land in Dearborn Co., IN. Elwin's first son Charles was in  Manchester Twp, Dearborn Co., IN in 1868. Elwin is my 3rd great grandfather on my mother's side. Elwin moved to Adams Co., IA between 1868 and 1870.

I finally found Grandpa Ballard Day. He is the son of Emmariah L. Day (born about 1841in Arkansas) and Joanna Brown (Born about 1840 in Mississippi).  Emmariah is the son of Ballard Day and Susan ?  This Ballard was born about 1796 in South Caralina and is a younger brother to your Johnson Day.  How did you conect them back to Edward Day and his ancestors?
