Jefferson Davis Phillips was born in Benton County, Arkansas February 14, 1864. He married Mary Rue Callahan February 14, 1888 in the Indian Territory. His brother, John Wesley Phillips, married Willie Katherine Callahan, a sister of Mary Rue Callahan. It may have been a double wedding. Jefferson Davis Phillips brought his family to Comanche County, Texas shortly after 1900. Jefferson Davis and Mary Rue Phillips had twelve children between 1889 and 1911.
