Jacob Danner's will 1795

Jacob Danner

(1756-1795)

According to the Records of the Moravians in North Carolina "Jacob Tanner arrived with one wagon..." on 17 February, 1778. "Br. Graff reported [on 16 September] that Jacob Tanner, who lives in Wachovia on the South Fork, is thinking of selling his farm to a man [Ackerman by name] who would like to build a mill as the farm has a site with water-power." On 25 November of the same year "The Brn. Marshall, Graff and Bagge took up the discussion of land matters, and in the afternoon Valentine Fischel, Jacob Tanner and others came about it." On 15 December "We visited Br. and Sr. Fischel, who have recently come from Yorktown, and have settled on their new farm near Tanner's." The above references seem to be about Jacob's second son, Jacob Jr., for in the Friedberg Diary, 1781 we read that on 2 January "The single man, Jacob Tanner, came for his certificate [of the publication of the Banns]. I spoke with him about the guests invited to the wedding, for it seemed to us that there were rather too many; he promised to see that nothing was done which would be a reproach to us. As it turned out he must have found a way to avoid the persons we thought were too many, for they did not come."

The name of a John Danner occurs in the North Carolina Revolutionary Pay Vouchers, Vol. XII:

State of North Carolina, S37------------N=564

Salisbury District

This is to certify that John Danner was allowed five pounds twelve

shillings specie for public claim by the Upper Board

of Auditors 1[?] day of June 1782.

Traugott Bagge }aud.

Charles Bruce

Considering the fact that there is a similar voucher for George Danner we may assume that this man may be John Jacob Danner.

Jacob married a Catherine Fischel, as noted in his will. There seems to be no children from this marriage.
