John Reddish

is suspected of dying between 1739-1744 when he disappears from tax rolls.  It is believed he married Elizabeth Crouch, daughter of Robert Crouch, due to legacies paid to him in Robert Crouch's will.

Possible children of John and Elizabeth:
Nicholas Reddish - more details on Reddish Gen link
John Reddish
- md. Joanna (William?), sons Benjamin, John, Hiron & Thomas
Hiron Reddish
- married Elizabeth Johnson, widow (maiden name Fullerton)
Elizabeth Reddish
- married ? Pare
Sarah Reddish
- married Hugh Kennedy

Notes about John Reddish:
23 April 1722:
John Reddish witnessed the will of Jarrett Graves.
19 February 1726:  John Reddish witnessed the will of Jacob Morris.
27 April 1727:  John is included in the will of Robert Crouch;  Legacies paid to John Reddish, his wife's part.
20 April 1728:  John Reddish witnessed the will of John Magee, planter.

Wicomico Hundred, Somerset County Tax Rolls:
John Reddish appears in the years 1730, 31, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39 and ceases to appear after 1739.

1744 Rent Rolls:
200 acres, 8's rent, Castle Haven.  Surveyed 5 April 1673 for Henry Hayman on south side of Rockawalkin River at a marked gum by a small branch.  80 acres held by C. Dominic Jackson(a neighbor of John); 40 acres by John Reddish heirs; 80 acres by Alexander Fullerton (Hiron, possible son of John married Alexander Fullerton's daughter).  This rent roll shows that the land that John owned is now in the hands of his heirs, proving that he has died before 1744.

1748 Tax List:
Household #697 with Eliah Reddish as head of household (Elizabeth?).  One taxable male in the household was Hiron Reddish - who would have been at least 16 years of age, and within one year of his birthdate.

1753 Tax List:
Betty Reddish
is now head of household.  Hiron is now head of a household of his own, but Nicholas is now a taxable male living with Betty (Elizabeth).

Hiron Reddish is head of household of his own, with one taxable male, Samuel Reddish.

Because of the above tax rolls, I believe this John Reddish to be the father to Nicholas Reddish.  John was active in the 1720's and possibly died after the small children were born.  Nicholas and a John that I believe to be his brother, died within 4 years of one another.
