Clara Radcliffe was born on July 31, 1884 in Clearfield county Pennsylvania to Thomas and Mary Jane (Molyneux) Radcliffe. Clara's parents Thomas and Mary Jane immigrated to the United States from England in 1881. Clara met William when William came to Phillipsburg to live with his brother Henry. The couple where married in Phillipsburg on April 20, 1904. Clara and her husband William would face much sorrow and heartache early in thier marriage. In 1905 with the birth of their first child Jane Elizabeth on August 8, 1905, the infant would die 8 weeks later on september 28, 1905. Their second child Bessie was born October 19, 1906 she died two and a half weeks later on November 5, 1906. Clara gave birth to William Thomas on November 15, 1907 he passed away four months and eleven days later on March 26, 1908. William and Clara had at least two other children in the next few years that did not survive infancy. Anna Lucille was born in 1915 and Clara had another son Edmond Wilbur in 1919.
The family moved to Detriot Mich around 1926, William, Clara and their two surviving children Anna and Edmond. Clara lived the rest of her days in Detroit once returning to Phillipsburg to bury her husband William in1938. Clara died at 11 am April 1, 1971 in MT. Carmel Hospital in Detroit, Mich. She was 86 years old and survived by her son Edmond living in Lapeer, Mich. and Daughter Anna Lucille married and living in Detroit. Also four grandchildren and four great- grandchildren.
