Joseph Lester

          Joseph was Born August 23, 1873 in St. Helens, Lancashire, England to Henry and Mary (Watkin) Lester. Joseph immigrated to the United States in 1888 from Liverpool on the SS Indiana at the age of 15 with his stepmother Mary Ellen (Chisnell) Lester and brothers Henry 11 years old, William 2, and Richard 7 months old. They arrived in the port of Philadelphia on June 19, 1888 where they met with their father, Henry, brother, James, and stepbrother, Fredrick Morley who had immigrated to the United States the year before. Joseph was Naturalized a United States citizen in 1897. In 1900 Joseph and his wife Daisy resided at 623 18th St. Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Joseph worked as a steel marker at the Steel Works in Harrisburg. Sometime after 1911 Joseph and his wife Daisy took in his sister Lucy's daughter Rose. By 1920 Joseph and his family resided in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania where he was employed as a cigar salesman. Joseph and family would move to Camp Hill, Pennsylvania by 1930 where Joseph was a cigar vender. Joseph died 24 Oct 1951 at the Masonic Homes Hospital in Camp Hill, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. Joseph was a retired salesman and 78 years old. He was intered in Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill Pennsylvania.
