Mary Ellen (Chisnall) Lester

          Mary Ellen Chisnall was born March 8,1848 in a flat in Huyton, Lancashire, England to Richard and Mary ( Lunt ) Chisnall. Her first marriage was to Edwin Morley they where married in Liverpool in 1871. Mary Ellen had three sons to Edwin they where Fredrick Morley born in 1872 in Liverpool, England, Alfred born 1877 in Liverpool, and Arthur born 1878 in Liverpool. Mary's first husband Edwin Died in 1886 in St Helens Lancashire, England. Mary Ellen a widow married Henry Lester a widower on December 25, 1886 at the Parish Church in the Parish of Prescot. She and Henry had one son together Richard Lester born August 25, 1887 in St Helens, Lancashire, England. Mary immigrated to the United States in 1888 with her seven month old son Richard and Henry's sons Joseph, Henry, and William. They arrived in the Port of Philadelphia on June 19, 1888 waiting there for them was Henry his son James and her son Fedrick Morley who had immigrated the year before. The family first settled in Phillipsburg, Centre county Pennsylvania and Mary Ellen became a Naturalized citizen in 1895. In 1900 the family resided at 140 Chestnut St. Barnesboro, Pennsylvania, Mary, Henry, their son Richard and Henry's son William, who was 14 and already working in the coal mines with his father. Mary Ellen's son Fredrick to her first marriage lived next door at 139 Chestnut St. By 1910 Henry had passed away and Mary Ellen lived by herself at 324 Hastings Ave. Barnesboro, Pennsylvania she was sixty two years old. Once again her son Fredrick lived right next door. As of 1920 Mary was living with her step son William and his family at 41 Walnut St. Phillipsburg, PA She was 70 years old. Mary Ellen Lester died 19 Nov 1927 at the Methodist Home for the Aged in Tyrone, Pennsylvania. In her obituary she was said to have looked like Queen Victoria of England. She was intered in the North Barnesboro Cemetery in Barnesboro, Pennsylvania.
