This coat of
arms was granted in 1841 to George Farrell Remfry, his male
descendants and the male descendants of his father, Thomas Gerrans
Remfry.
Paul Martin Remfry
provided this illustration with the comment that it is the original
coat of arms of the barons of Kendal, Roger Remfry d.1199 and
his successors Gilbert Remfry and William Remfry. Paul notes that the
lion in the corner is often a sign of bastard descent from King Henry
I.
