390. Napoleon Brownlow RENEAU(1) (2) was born on 1 Jan 1844 in Jefferson Co., Tennessee. He died on 29 Sep 1927 in Jefferson Co., Tennessee.  He was married to Catherine RENEAU (daughter of William RENEAU and Julia MILLER) on 29 Jan 1866 in Jefferson Co., Tennessee. Catherine RENEAU (1)(2) was born on 16 Sep 1838 in Jefferson Co., Tennessee. She died on 7 Jul 1906 in Jefferson Co., Tennessee. She was buried in Shady Grove Cemetery.

Christina Jones, [email protected], wrote:   "My great-great grandfather was Napoleon Reneau, who married Catherine Reneau. I know there has been some questions over why Napoleon would marry his half-sister. According to my great uncle, Clare Reneau, Napoleon was left on the Reneau doorstep as an infant. The Reneaus raised him. The identity of who his real parents are is not known."

Nip ran away to Kentucky to join the Union Army. He joined August 8, 1862, at Louisville, KY, and was discharged Aug. 10, 1865, at St. Louis, MO. He was in Co. M, 2nd Tennessee Cav. (USA). He was in the Confederate Prison in Montgomery, Alabama. 

The 1870 Jefferson County, Tennessee, census lists Napoleon B. Reneau, 26, farm laborer; Catharine 28, Mary E., 3; Rebecca A., 1; and Martha Reneau, age 19. 

The 1880 Jefferson County, Tennessee, census lists N. B. Reneau, 33; C., wife, 40; M. E., daughter, 14; B. A., daughter, 11; S. A., daughter, 9; M. J., daughter, 6; W. I., son, 3; and M. C., daughter, 3/12. 

He was living in the Shady Grove Community in Jefferson County when the 1890 Tennessee Veterans of Civil War census was taken. He, Catherine, Willie R., and Katie were living in Jefferson County in 1900. He and Reatha were in Knox County, TN in 1910.

On February 4, 1911, N. B. and "Rheta" sold property in Jefferson County to Claude Chambers.
The 1920 Jefferson County, Tennessee, census lists Napoleon B. Reyno, 76 b. TN, and Lureatha, 52 b. TN. In February 1920, they sold six acres in Jefferson County to John H. Parrott. His will, dated September 29, 1927 and probabed October 18, 1930, mentions his wife Reatha and grandsons Nip Manard and C. Napoleon Reneau.
