The Tetley family has been in the Bradford area since about 1600
Some of them lived at Heaton, from where William Tetley(1837-1906) emigrated to New Zealand
Many of the Tetleys worked in the wool trade in Bradford, as you might expect.
Some were grand enough to own their own factories, while others were workers in the factories of others.
Other Tetleys were farmers, architects, and engineers.
Herbert Hustler Tetley CBE (1854-1937) was an Alderman of the City, and Lord Mayor in 1918.
Thomas Pearson Tetley (1871-1923) was choirmaster at Cullingworth.
