With a very few exceptions all my ancestors lived in 4 adjoining counties and in very specific parts of those counties, Northamptonshire west of the Watling Street, Warwickshire north of Stratford on Avon, Oxfordshire north of Banbury and Leicestershire south of Leicester. Here is a brief, personal and entirely subjective view of the places my ancestors called home. Based on my own visits to the villages to see at first hand the churches they attended (or got fined for not attending!), where redevelopment has not been too great the buildings and houses that would have been standing when they lived there (even if I don't know where exactly they lived), and in a few cases the actual houses they lived in, including in one exceptional case the cottage lived in by my ancestors in the early 1600s.
