Adam Rickenbach (1864-1936) was the youngest son of James Rickenbach. He was a farmer, unlike his brothers who were involved with the canal boat operations.
That's not to say you would never find him hanging out around a canal boat (below).
Adam and his wife Priscilla purchased the Herbine farm adjacent to great-grandfather's farm and raised a large family. This farm remained in his daughter Ellen's family until the mid-1970s. Many of the photographs found in this memoir were passed down through Ellen's family.
Another portrait of Adam Rickenbach, probably mid 1880s.
