Hinnershitz Cemetery

James Rickenbach and Eliza Hinnershitz are buried at Hinnershitz Church in Tuckerton. Their graves are located in a family plot, which includes several of their children, James' parents and a sister. The rows of old limestone graves below are:

Back row (left to right): Eliza Hinnershitz Rickenbach (d. 1922), James Rickenbach (d. 1891), son John Rickenbach (drowned in the canal at age 5 in 1865), daughter Annie Laura Rickenbach (died of typhoid fever at age 19 in 1886), James' parents Benjamin Rickenbach (d. 1866) and Christiana Ulrich Rickenbach (d. 1885).

Front row (left to right): Alice Williams Rickenbach (wife of Wilson, d. 1890), Wilson Rickenbach (d. 1918), Susanna Moyer Rickenbach (wife of Wilson, d. 1887).

The three small graves in the foreground are some of Wilson's children, died in infancy. Behind Annie Laura's grave is her brother Edwin Rickenbach (d. 1894). It is interesting that the four children of James and Eliza to be buried near their parents all died prematurly (John, Annie Laura, Edwin, Wilson). The only other children of James and Eliza buried nearby are Curtin and Adam (far background). James' sister Amelia Rickenbach Mengel is also buried nearby.

So where are James and Eliza's other children buried? And why isn't Becky Rickenbach (the author of the memoir) buried here, since she apparently died at Rickenbach Station?
