Mrs. Mollie Gatlin Dies At Home Here
 
Mrs. Mollie E. Gatlin, widow of Capt. A. J. Gatlin, died at 12:15p.m. Wednesday, after an illness with apoplexy that lasted only three hours.  The sudden death came as a shock to relatives and friends.
 
Mrs. Gatlin passed away on her 74th birthday anniversary, having been born June 27, 1860. Death came at her residence at 24 Queen street, where she had lived for the last two years. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 4:30 from the home of a sister, Mrs. Dave Lancaster, on Griffith and Queen streets.  Internment will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
 
Born in Vanceboro, Mrs. Gatlin was well known and highly regarded through the section.  Surviving are three sons: Mr. Oscar A. Gatlin, Laurie Gatlin of New Bern, and Lewis P. Gatlin of Buffalo, NY; one sister:  Mrs. Lancaster; and three brothers: James Dixon of Newport News; Alonzo Dixon of Dover; and Edward Dixon of Richmond.
