Annie, William and Amelia were all born in England and arrived in the United States sometime between 1855 and 1885. Margaret May Smith's father was born in Scotland and her mother in Wales (in 1867). Margaret May was herself born in Pennsylvania.

My 2nd great aunt, Margaret Gladys Smith, M.D., (daughter of William and Annie Smith) was a well known pathologist. She started her career in various posts at John Hopkins in the 1920's and later served as a Professor Emeritus and Lecturer in Pathology at the Washington University School of Medicine.
