Introduction:

This web site is the attempt to add to the genealogy of the Isles of Scilly families in Cornwall, England. Many thanks to people who have donated material.

Some old photographs given to me by Malcolm McCarthy. Any further information would be welcome:

Holy Vale, Isles of Scillies - small (0.4 MB), large (1.4 MB). Thanks to Roger Banfield for identification - July 2013.

Church Street, St Mary's, Isles of Scillies - small ( 0.4 MB), large (2.8 MB).

Cromwell's Castle and New Grimsby Channel, Tresco, Isles of Scillies - small (0.4 MB), large (1.2 MB).

Hugh Town, Isles of Scillies, 1860-70 - small (0.6 MB), large (4.5 MB).

Old chair, Isles of Scillies - small (0.5 MB), large (5.5 MB).

According to Amanda Martin, Curator/ Manager, Isles of Scilly Museum, "The chair (labelled 'Old chair') came from Star Castle. It is now in the Council Chamber. For many years it was used as the official chair for the Chairman of Council but this practice has been discontinued to preserve the chair. The J.V. in the bottom of some images is probably James Valentine of the Valentine's firm." Amanda has kindly sent two further photographs here (1.6 MB) and here (4.5 MB) December 2013.

St Mary's Sound, Hugh Town, Isles of Scilly - small (0.5 MB), large (6.2 MB).

Tresco Abbey, Tresco, Isles of Scilly - small (0.5 MB), large (1.4 MB).

Tresco, Isles of Scilly - small (0.5 MB), large (1.6 MB).

Isles of Scilly Family History Group:

The Isles of Scilly Family History Group was formed in 2002 with the aim of bringing together persons researching Scillonian families. The Group works very closely with the Isles of Scilly Museum. So far there are some 60 members world-wide. The Group hold their names, contact details and research names on a database and produce, for members, a booklet each year listing these details. This list has helped immensely with redirecting enquiries to the correct researcher over the last two years. Anyone wishing to know more about the Group, or wishing to join, may contact the Isles of Scilly Museum on [email protected].
