Lillian (Lil) was born in 1884 in central Victorian gold-mining town of Dunolly. By 1886 the family had moved to the Walhalla, another gold-mining town in eastern Victoria. In 1903 the family moved to Creswick.

In 1908 Lillian married George Treeby.

The 1909 Commonwealth Electoral Roll noted George’s occupation as: miner; Lilian’s [sic] as: home duties and their residence: Ullina. Note: Ullina is a small locality about 10 klms east of Clunes.

By 1914 they had moved to nearby Newbridge. The 1909 Commonwealth Electoral Roll noted George’s occupation as: miner; Lillian’s as: home duties and their residence: Newbridge. And, by 1919 they had move to nearby Llanelly. The 1919 Commonwealth Electoral Roll noted George’s occupation as: miner; Lillian’s as: home duties and their residence: Llanelly.

By 1930 the family had taken up farming in Finley, New South Wales. The 1930 & 1936 Commonwealth Electoral Rolls noted George’s occupation as: farmer; Lillian’s as: home duties and their residence: Finley,. They were still in Finley in 1943. The 1943 Commonwealth Electoral Roll noted George’s occupation as: farmer; Lillian’s as: home duties and their residence: Tongaboo, Finley.

By 1949 they had moved close to Melbourne. The 1949 Commonwealth Electoral Roll noted George’s occupation as: grazier; Lillian’s as: home duties and their residence: Sydenham.

By 1950 they had retired and moved to suburban Melbourne. An amendment to the electoral roll dated 25 May 1950 notes George’s occupation: retired; Lillian’s: home duties and their residence: 22 Pine St, Surrey Hills, Melbourne. By 1954 they had moved to nearby Nunawading. The 1949 Commonwealth Electoral Roll noted no occupation for George; Lillian’s as: home duties and their residence: 14 O’Shannessy St, Nunawading.
