Also known as Madren and Maddren.

At the time of their marriage in 1864 Jane was noted as a “spinster”, aged “20”, from St Mary’s, father John a “labourer” and William as a “bachelor” and “labourer” aged “22” from St Mary’s, father William Madren [sic] a “labourer”. They were married by banns dated 12 June 1864 which noted them both from “OTP” (of this parish).

Note: IGI marriage record notes William’s surname as “Maddren”.

William re-married about September quarter 1874, Penzance, Agnes SNELL (?-?) and William, Agnes and William’s daughter Elizabeth left for New Zealand six days after the wedding in 1874.

Note: there is also a record of a William Thomas MADDERN (?-?) marrying 1885, Susannah GUY (?-?); William noted as a “widower”, “labourer”, age: 43 years, father: William, a “labourer”. This William appears to have died before 1891 as the Census of that year noted Susanna [sic] as a “widow” with four children, including one dating from about 1871. (Further research required).
