At the time of Caroline’s marriage in 1857 she was noted as a “spinster”; age: 19 years; from Tresco; father: Stephen Deason, a “farmer” and “joiner”; and Hugh a “bachelor”; age: 22 years; “farmer”; from Tresco, father: John Jenkins, “farmer”. Note: Baxter research (1975) records bride’s father’s occupation only as “joiner”. They were married by banns dated 11 October 1857 which also noted both as from Tresco.

At the time of son William’s baptism in 1859 the family was noted as living at Tresco and father, Hugh, a “sawyer”.

Mary was from Tresco.

At the time of their marriage in 1860 Mary Ann was noted as a “spinster”; age: 24 years; from Tresco; father, Barnet, a “shoemaker”, Hugh a “widower”; age: 24 years; “farmer”; father: John a “farmer” .
