Caroline was from Tresco.

Transcribed from the “Off Island Registers” by the late R. M. Baxter:
MARRIAGE: 3 April 1819
William Nicholas, Widower, & Caroline Deason, spinster both of Tresco
were married in this Church of Tresco, Scilly, by Banns by me Jas. Lane,
Minister.
This marriage was solemnised between Us (Wm. Nicholls
(Caroline Deason
In the presence of (Thomas Deason
(William Pender

At the time of Caroline’s baptism in 1790 the family was noted as living at Tresco.

At the time of their marriage in 1819, Caroline was noted as a “spinster” and William (transcribed as “Nicholas” rather than Nicholls) a “widower”, both of Tresco. They were married by banns dated by Jas. Lane; neither made their mark; witnesses: Thomas Deason and William Pender.

Noted in the 1841 Census, along with husband, William, a “farmer” and two children – Jane and Alfred. All living at Dial Rocks, Tresco.

William may be the “William Nicholls” recorded as part owner of the Dash, registered (date not indicated) Tresco, 16/20 tons, replaced 1848, owners: Elizabeth Nicholls and Wm Nicholls. Note: uncertain as to why two tonnages are noted and exact meaning of ‘replaced’ in this instance.

Noted in the 1851 Census, along with husband, William a “superannuated pilot” and grandson Frederick Nicholls, aged 7 years, a “scholar”. All living at Tresco.
