At the time of their marriage in 1832, Rebecca was noted as a “spinster” and Jonas a “bachelor” both were from Tresco.3

Jonas Nicholls was part owner, together with his brother-in-law, Thomas Deason, John Nicholls (see note) and others of the Prosperous, registered 1830, Tresco, 28 tons, wrecked 27 March 1836. Note: John Nicholls is likely to be the John Nicholls recorded in the 1841 Census as living next door to Jonas Nicholls, Tresco.

Jonas Nicholls was also part owner, together with his brother-in-law, Thomas Deason, John Nicholls (see note) and others of the New Prosperous, registered 1836, Tresco, 20 tons. It was lost February 1888, off Lundy Island. Note: John Nicholls is likely to be the John Nicholls recorded in the 1841 Census as living next door to Jonas Nicholls, Tresco.
