At the time of their marriage in 1853, Grace was noted as a: “spinster”, age: 31 years, occupation: “servant”, residence: Penzance, father: Thomas Deason, father’s occupation: [unclear] and Richard a: “bachelor”, age: 34 years, occupation: “mariner”, residence: [unclear], father: Richard Angwin, father’s occupation: [unclear], witnesses: John Hills (or Wills) and Fred A Cocks. Grace signed her name and Richard made his mark “X”. Note: reference to Richard being a ‘mariner’ may be an error as the 1841 & 1861 Censuses indicate that he ‘shoemaker’.
