At the time of Thomas’s baptism in 1826 the family was noted as living at Tresco.3

Probably moved to the St Just in Penwith area, mainland Cornwall, about 1840.3

Thomas was noted on his death certificate as 17½ years of age, son of Thomas Deason, a farmer. He died of “dropsy” and the informant was his step-father, Philip Bonetto.3

Note: dropsy was an old term relating to the retention of fluid in the body. It was probably caused through kidney failure. For miners, this can be the result of heavy metal contamination. Arsenic (a heavy metal) was extracted in the tin mining areas of St Just for use in the smelting process.3
