50TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

THURSDAY JANUARY 5, 1933

The Golden wedding Anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Stolebarger was celebrated Sunday January 1 at their home in Sharon.  Their children and families were present to enjoy the occasion.  Dinner was served at a long table centered with a golden wedding cake decorated with love birds.  After dinner Mrs. Ray Benefield played a piano solo. The wedding as told to the children by their mother was as follows:

Fifty years ago occurred the marriage of Miss Sarah M. Schnelle and Joe Stolebarger at the home of the brides parents in Lemons, Mo.  at high noon December 31, 1882.  The marriage vows were read by W. K. Slater, minister of the Christian Church.  The wedding costumes were somewhat different from those of the present time.  The bride wore a gray cashmere dress made with a polyanna waist and fullpleated skirt trimmed in cream colored side lace and two bows of ribbon on her hair and side laced shoes on her feet.   The bride grooms apparel was a black woolen frock tailored suit-white with a high standing collar and high top shoes.  Their honeymoon was spent in Cincinnati, Iowa.
