Johann Philip Lenhart, son of Johann Peter and Maria Margaretha Lenhart,
was born about 1734, and died in 1803. He married Anna Bossert, daughter
of Jacob and ____ Bossert, who was born about 1729, and died after 1803.
Philip and Anna raised their family in Greenwich Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania. The 1767 tax record for Greenwich Township recorded his occupation as wheelwright. Only three children are identified in baptismal records. The existence of two more, Philip and Catharina, are inferred from other records. Most likely, there were other children, particularly between the births of Peter in 1758 and George in 1770. The baptismal records of the other children, whether they were performed at another church or by an itinerant minister, are apparently lost. The same is true for most of the children of their daughter Catharina and her husband Frederick Leiby, who lived in the same area. Philip probably died in 1803; his will was probated December 28, 1803. He left his entire estate to his wife, who survived him. Much to the misfortune of future family historians, none of his children were identified in the will. The time of Anna's death is unknown. The children of Johann Philip Lenhart and Anna Bossert are:
