Obituary of Philip Martsolf (Martzolf)

HIS INJURIES PROVED FATAL

Philip Martsolf, one of New Brighton's most honored and respected citizens, died this morning at twenty minutes of three o'clock, at the home of his son, Charles W. Martsolf, on upper Second avenue, as tlie result of injuries received last Thursday morning about seven o'clock by being struck by a street car near the end of the overgrade bridge. His injuries were not considered of a fatal nature at the time, but the shock was too great for a man of his years, and he gradually grew worse until death came.

Mr. Martsolf was of French-German descent, being born in Alsace-Lorraine seventy-two years ago the 15th of.last October.  He was brought to this country when two years of age and had been a resident of New Brighton for fifty-three years. In politics he was a Republican and was burgess three terms.  He also served in council for several terms.

Hia wife died about eight years ago. He is survived by the following children; Henry, of Beaver; George W., William P., John A., Charles W., and Mrs. Emma Wllson, of New Brighton.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian church, of Union Lodge, No. 259, Free and Accepted Masons, and also of Harmony Chapter. He was the oldest member of the lodge.

The funeral servlces will be held on Thursday afternoon at two o'clock, at the home of his son, Charles W. Martsolf, on upper Second avenue. The Masons will have charge of the services. The interment will be in Grove cemetery.
