PETER CALMUS and NANCY CATHERINE SMITH CAMPBELL Families

PETER CALMUS and NANCY CATHERINE SMITH CAMPBELL FAMILIES

When my cousin,Fran Flood Emmerich was living, we spent a lot of time
collecting Campbell Family information together. Countless hours were
spent gathering land records, photos, and making many long-distance
phone calls to gather up this information (before computer days).
I stayed with Fran and Artie in Kansas City, Missouri several times
and we did lots of research together there.
We were like Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson when it came to
finding clues on George W Campbell and his Alabama,Tennessee doin's.

We know he married at least three times and was somewhat of a
scalawag and disappeared to unknown places sometimes.

His first wife was CYNTHIA COX(married in North Carolina and marriage
bond is on record).....do believe his Campbell sons traveled with him
to Carroll County, Arkansas. Do believe Richard C Campbell is one of
these sons.
George W Campbell married a second time to a widow :
JANE WADE(VINING?) PERRYMAN
(widow of Alexander Perryman) in 1817
in New Market, Alabama (on record)and widow Jane Wade Perryman had
several children and we think
that is how George got to be the
owner of land there...only to disappear and show up in St.Louis,
Missouri. Have copy of his land records there

When his father William Campbell died and George's name was in the
Will, George W Campbell was out of reach of the courts.
(have copy of William Campbell's Will).
Seems George W had made bond in Orphans Court and bond was revoked.
He was made guardian of one MARY COTTON (perhaps others),niece of
Mrs. Jane Wade Perryman Campbell.
Have copies of his land records in Tennessee\Alabama.
There are probably records in the Orphans Court of New Market,Alabama
area regarding these events.Or possibly in Tennessee near New Market,
Alabama

We know that he was living in St. Louis on 1830 census.
JULIA ANN (mnu) GRANGEENE was living in his household and had filed
for divorce from her husband ABRAHAM GRANGEENE for desertion and for
public drunkenness.
Have copies from the Missouri newspapers of Julia's filing for her
divorce. And their first child Billistein Elizabeth Campbell was born
there in Missouri in 1831.

George W Campbell family moved to Carroll County, Arkansas with his
family and is on the tax rolls there.
If you are truly a researcher of the George W Campbell family and
want to EXCHANGE your information with mine, we can go from there.
But if you are just wanting to add a few names to your collection,I
will not help you.

After Fran's death, I sorta lost my incentive to do any more research
on the Campbell Families. So if you write me, it is not that I don't
want to share with you, I am sorta depressed at the thought of losing
Fran and not being able to talk with her about her large Campbell
Family. I know if she were still alive, she would be going full steam
ahead, collecting information. We would have solved many, many, many
more questions regarding George Campbell and Julia (mnu)Grangeene
Campbell.
I have collected lots more information but just have not entered it
into my Campbell story.
Have many newspaper clippings on the Campbell families, mostly obits
clippings from Newton County Times Newspapers
Would like to state that my Flood family is related to the Campbells
about seven main ways:
1. Peter Calmas Campbell's wife was NANCY CATHERINE SMITH, sister to
our great-great-great grandmother SARAH SMITH RICKETTS.

2. Oliver Campbell married SARAH ANNIE RICKETTS, a direct Flood
connection

3. Jerry Campbell married MARTHA ISABELL SMITH (daughter of
Henry Woody Smith and Barbara Allen Pierce House Smith)....a direct
connection to my Flood Family.

4. Our Floods are related through Sally Greenhaw McCutcheon Reddell
marriage. Sally Greenhaw was sister to our Mary Francis Greenhaw who
married Joe Hamilton.(Greenhaw sisters were daughters of
George W.Greenhaw and Margaret Lavina Cook)

5. Our Floods are related to the Campbells through JULEY CAMPBELL,
daughter of Peter Calmus & Nancy Catherine Smith. Juley married
James Calvin Smith, son of Henry Woody and Barbara Allen Pierce House
Smith.

6.Also Juley Campbell Smith Gilmore's son Luney Gilmore married
(1)TESSIE CLEMO FLUD, daughter of Simon David and Hester Ricketts Flud

7. Garnet Hazel Campbell married JOHN FRANKLIN FLUD and this is
another way the Floods are related to the Campbell Clan

8. There are also indirect connections of the Floods and Campbells.
I am not in this research to make money, but to discover secrets that
are still out there waiting to be discovered about the
George W Campbell past.

Need YOUR help to complete information on the Campbell Clan
Send me an E-mail and any photos you would like to share

Peter Calmus Campbell was born 4 Jan 1838 at Crooked Creek,Carroll
Carroll County,Arkansas.
He was son of George W Campbell and Julia Ann (maiden-name unknown)
Grangeene Campbell.
Julia Ann (MNU)Grangeene had two sons by her first husband
Abraham Grangeene: Oliver and Edward Grangeene.
Have lots of Grangeene information and some photos. Hope to write the
Grangeene Story before long.

An interesting note here:
Found Sampson Harp and Deborah Grace Harp on the 1860 San Joaquin
County, California Census at Fostoria.
They were on the 1850 Johnson County, Arkansas census living near
daughter Hester Morning Harp Grangeene and her husband
Edward Grangeene,(brother to Oliver Grangeene)with son
Sampson Grangeene.
I have been researching the Grangeene family for years.
Edward and his brother Oliver Grangeene were sons of
Abraham Grangeene and Julia Ann (mnu)Grangeene Campbell.

Julia Ann was the mother of several Campbell children by
George W Campbell; she was the mother of:
Henderson Campbell,
Billistein Elizabeth Campbell Holt Lawson Carlton;
Peter Calmus Campbell
Mary Barnett Campbell Holt.

Have lots of information on George W Campbell and
Julia Ann GRANGEENE, if you want to EXCHANGE or SHARE information.
George W Campbell had been married at least two other times.
I have record of these marriages.
Also have copies of his land deed and copy of George's father's will.
Anyone that could send me information on these Campbell families,
I would be willing to EXCHANGE information with you.
If you have corrections, send them to me directly, instead of sending
sending it through someone else.
Most of my information is from census, marriage, cemetery records
and from newspaper clippings. I do not claim to be l00% accurate in
this information.
If you see any corrections or additions, please let me know.

My cousin and a best friend Fran died of cancer.
Please read her story "Fran Emmerich Flood" in my
'Kinfolks Stories'on my website.
Since Fran's death I have not had the heart to work on the Campbell
families. Fran and I used to do Campbell research when I visited her
in Kansas City, Missouri. We have actual Campbell land records, etc.
Many people write me about the Campbell Family, but I just can't seem
to bring myself to work on this family any more. Maybe some day.
NOTE: am updating today 17 Feb 2017

Fran Emmerich and her Flood brothers

buried in Mt. Washington Cemetery near the West gate.
Understand she died of melanoma (cancer).

German Gay Flood, born 29June1909, died 10Nov1985 in Kansas City,
Missouri and is buried in Mt.Washington Cemetery near the west gate.
His mother was Mary Virginia Flood (John L. Snooker Flud and
Mary Jane Smith Flud Family).
They were the parents of my dear late cousin and friend,
Fran Flood Emmerich.
I miss Fran so much and almost gave up doing genealogy research when
she died. They say if you have ONE good friend in your lifetime, you
are lucky.....Fran was that kind of friend.
Wish Fran would send me information somehow on our missing links to
the past. We talked and laughed about this.......@{:>))
If ever there was a good, kind friend, it was my friend Fran.
I loved her like a sister. Miss her so much.
