Wisconsin Lost Ancestors
I would like to submit several lost siblings to my great-grandmother, Magdalen
Johanna ENGELN RICE. I have made no progress on this line, mainly because they
have moved out of the state of Wisconsin and most of the info I get is third-hand..nothing
concrete for me to go on that leads anywhere.
John J. (Johann) ENGELN: b. June 1876 to Wilhelm Engeln and
Catherine IRSFELD in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. His occupation in 1900 was a printer.
He is said to have gone to California ( LA ?) by 1951..most likely much earlier.
Frank J. ENGELN: b. April 1882 to Wilhelm Engeln and Catherine
IRSFELD in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He married Mary ? Was living in Milwaukee in
1922. No other info.
(Have tracked another Frank Engeln to Washington State, but dates don't match).
Anna ENGELN MASTOPEITRO: b. July 1885 in Milwaukee, WI. to Wilhelm
Engeln and Catherine IRSFELD. She married Louis E. Mastopeitro,
a tailor, who is said to have been a tailor for Bob Hope. His father was Carl
Mastopeitro. They were married in August 1917 in Milwaukee, WI.
Moved to Southern California, date unknown, and had two known children: Carl
(changed name to MASTON and became an architect) and Katherine.
Possibly buried in the LA/Hollywood area.
Catherine/Katherine ENGELN GABEL: b. April 1889 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Married Harry GABEL who managed the tabacco concession at the Palmer
House (Chicago, Illinois). She clerked at the main Marshall Field store. Moved to Orlando,
Florida and one of them is said to have died in 1974. (not confirmed).

Im searching for information on my grandfathers brother GUSTAV ALFRED
STRAND, born August 15, 1886 in Naverstad Goteborg, Sweden. His father
was John Edwin STRAND, his mother was Charlotta Amelia CARLSSON.
John Edwin STRAND immigrated to the USA and landed at the Port of New
York in June, 1886. His wife followed with children a year later. His
last name was ANDERSSON, but changed it to STRAND (his
given military
name) after settling in America. John Edwin STRAND Petitioned for
citizenship on November 2, 1886 in Florence county , Wisconsin. The
family spent time in Ishpeming, Michigan, Superior, Wisconsin and
Fargo, North Dakota, before settling in Randall, Minnesota.
GUSTAV ALFRED STRAND left Minnesota, according to family legend, to look
for work, and the only information the family has is that he may have
gone West to Montana, Colorado or points unknown.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
