Extraction: "David [Weidner] and his wife Mary are buried at Trissell Cemetery, So. Diamond Mill Road, about 11/2 miles SE of New Lebanon. At one time it was also known as the Metzger Cemetery. His Stone reads WHITNER and cemetery records read DAID WHITNER. The recorder could not spell very well. He died 26 Oct 1844, aged 81 y 9 m 18 d. Mary, his wife, died 30 April 1855, but the age is not readable on her stone, which is sunk quite far into the ground. They are, I believe, of tan sandstone and in excellent condition for their age. I am very familiar with these two graves. I belong to The American Legion, and for many years, at Memorial Day, I place a flag at David's grave. There is no American Revolution flagholder, so I push the staff in the ground along the stone. If the Sons of the Am. Rev. ever had a flagholder there, it has been gone for at least 20 years."
