[Notes: Milton and Delilah had always stayed away from the extremes in religious activities. They were both born Quakers and their families were of that faith. Especially since being disowned by the Westfield mm Milton had stayed completely from the church, Delilah had participated on a very limited basis. Delilah would sometimes sit with her family Bible and look at the names of her dead children (She has watched as her first 4 and 5 of her 9 children had died.] - [S10, page 3, 4]

Westfield mm attempted several times to get Milton and Hannah to repent and come back to the church, but the church moved very slowly in this effort – the matter dragged on for months – in fall 1842, the meeting voted to accept the couple back into the fold. By this time Hannah was 7 months pregnant.

Hannah gave birth to Abigail on 19 Dec 1842 – One month later on 25 Jan 1843 Hannah died most likely from complications of childbirth.

Milton seemed to hold the church responsible for Hannah's death because of their harassment of the couple during the better part of her pregnancy.

The October, 1842 meeting that had accepted Hannah's offering of repentance had also received the membership of Delilah Hiatt [Note 30, page 249: Minutes of the Westfield mm (Women's), 10th Month, 1842]

Milton took two of his cases to the Indiana Supreme Court – [Note 46, page 251: Just such a dispute, in just such a losing cause, provides convincing evidence of the social standing of the Tomlinson family. In the Davidson v. Zion, Tomlinson, et al. case, the court handed down a $200.00 judgment against Milton Tomlinson. He apparently refused to pay, and a parcel of his land went on the auction block. When the property came up for auction, however, no one bid. Finally, Noah bid a pittance and purchased the property, which he promptly conveyed to Delilah, thereby returning it into his brother's hands. Bidder collusion of this kind only occurred on behalf of individuals who elicited strong communal sympathy and support.]

Milton and Noah best known as road builders – helped to built the road that is now US 31through a swamp

1860s – Milton and Noah helped to extend a gravel road from Westfield to Indianapolis

By the 1880s Milton and Noah had been a part of the construction of roads and railroads that connected Westfield to markets throughout the country

Milton and Noah remained farmers but they were far more than that simple title

Milton often represented Washington Township at district and state Republican conventions – [Note 42, page 250: See Hamilton County Republican (February n, 1869); Noblesville Ledger(February n, 1876); Noblesville Ledger (May i, 1878); Republican Ledger (January 27,1888).]

Milton served as an occasional juror at the circuit court and as a temporary [page 76] commissioner – [Note 44, page 250: For Tomlinson as a juror, see Noblesville Ledger (June 4,1875); for Tomlinson as commissioner, see Hamilton County Deed Records, April 1881.]

-- Abigail Tomlinson ID0941, daughter of Hannah and Milton was born 19 Dec 1842 - Giving Hannah the approximate age of 20 at her birth (the same age as Milton) that would put her approximate birth at about 1820.

-- besides, she is shown to have died abt 1843 in records from Myron and also the History Book [Bk3009]

-- Therefore I have to conclude that the Hannah Davis of the 1850 US Census is indeed a different person than the Hannah Davis ID0935
