Brantley Felix RHODES



Brantley Felix RHODES, was born 10 April 1834 to Rev. James J. RHODES and his 1st wife who is unknown.He was married at least 3 times. His 1st wife was Rilla WILLIAMS. They were married in Jones Co., N.C. on 13 September 1855. Nothing is known about this marriage.

The 2nd marriage was to Sara Ann Drucilla SOUTHERLAND, whom he married on 28 May 1859 in Onslow Co., N.C. Shortly after this, their whole world turned upside down due to the Civil War. Brantley enlised on 24 May 1861 in Jones Co., in the same regiment as his brother Levi-Co. G, 2nd Regiment, N.C. State Troops. He was discharge 19 August 1861. He enlisted again in Co. K, 19th Regiment in the Calvary; N.C.State Troops on 28 January 1862. He was present or accounted for until he was transferred to Co. H.41st Regiment.
By 1870 Brantley and Sarah RHODES were living in the Cypress Creek Area of Jones Co., next to his brother Levi Jackson RHODES. By 1880 he and Sarah had moved to the Pink Hill area of Lenoir Co., N.C. There is no known issue of this marriage.

On 20 Decemeber 1881, Brantley Felix RHODES married his 3rd wife Rilla Winneford HEATH. She was born on 26 August 1837. A bible and marriage record of their union is on my bible page.

By the 1900 Census Brantley F. RHODES, age 66 and his wife Winneford RHODES, age 62 were living again in Jones Co. in the Tuckahoe District.
