Bartholomaus Raumberger was buried after Sep 25, 1800 in Cleona, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, USA (Hill Church Cemetery).
Notes for Bartholomaus Raumberger:
Bartholomaus Raumberger was the ancestor of most of the Rombergers, Rambergers, Rumbergers, and Rumbargers in the United States. We know nothing of his early life except that he was a miller by trade. When he was about 36 years old, he, and at least three of his children, joined a group of emigrants, including many from the vicinity of Wertheim (on the Main River), and travelled down the Main and Rhine Rivers to Rotterdam. During the summer of 1753 they made a voyage from Rotterdam via Cowes (on the Isle of Wight) on the English ship Neptune. The ship's master was John Mason of England.
The Neptune arrived on a Sunday. After medical inspections, the immigrant passengers were allowed to disembark on Monday, September 24. As required by the laws of that time, all immigrant men of age 16 or older were required to go to the Court House and sign certain documents or "lists". One of these was an oath of allegiance to the British crown and of an intention to obey the laws of the local government. The other was an oath of "abjuration" (pertaining to nonparticipation in imagined political plots to overthrow the Hanoverian Royal
House).Bartholomaus Raumberger was 37 years old when he arrived in Philadelphia with his family of at least three minor children (Baltzer, Anna Eva, and Adam). The family travelled, but perhaps not immediately or directly, to Lancaster County, and settled in the vicinity of "Earltown" which later became the borough of New Holland. It is likely, however, that they lived a few miles south of the village and hence in Leacock Township rather than Earl Township.
It seems likely that Bartel Raumberger took employment as a miller soon after he arrived in Lancaster County. The tax records for 1758 list him as owner or operator "on the half" of "Acors Mill" in Leacock Township, which is just south of New Holland. This suggests, but does not prove, that he arrived with minimal debt and perhaps a small amount of capital. The "Acors" mill mentioned in the tax records probably was the mill earlier owned by Philip Aker (Acor, Acker, Ackers, etc.) who may have died in about 1757. This mill was probably one of two along Mill Creek in Leacock Township.
While working as a miller and bringing up his children, Bartel met Anna Sabina Hass, a daughter of Michale Hass of Alberthausen in Franconia.
Bartel's son Adam took care of him for the last twenty-one years of his life. During this time, Adam lived on a farm near the present town of Annville. Baptized as a Roman Catholic. According to family lore, burial was in the cemetery of the "Die Alt Berg Kirche" or the "Old Hill Church" (Lutheran) north of Annville. There is no surviving grave marker. This deficiency is possibly related to the fact that Adam, who was his father's sole heir and was in his father's will charged to pay all burial and funeral expenses, became ill and died soon after his father's death.
John A. Romberger, Manuscript published July 15, 1997
Bartholomaus/Bartholomaeus/Barthel/Bartel Rauchenberger/Rauenberger/Raumberger was the fourth child and third son of J. Caspar Rauchenberger and his wife, Catharina, who lived in Theilheim, Bavaria, from about 1711 through 1730. Catharina Rauchenberger, mother of Bartel and his siblings, died 14 April, 1730 at the age of 46, and thus had been born in about 1684. We have no dates for J. Caspar, but we know that he was a Roman Catholic and a miller at the Neumuhle just outside of Theilheim.
The misinformation about an English woman, Elizabeth Mather, being the wife of our Barthel has no foundation in fact. I traced that persistent lore back to some mimeographed and handwritten material distributed to some Romberger genealogists during the '60s by a Floyd Romberger of Missouri (not Dr. Floyd Romberger of Indiana). When I met that Missouri Floyd in about 1970 and asked him about the source of that misinformation, he didn't remember where he found it or heard about it. He is now long since dead and gone. I acquired copies of some of his notes, but have learned nothing more. His widow had no interest in Romberger family history and asked to be taken off the mailing list. There is, of course, a well known Mather family of English (Puritin) origin which included the Cleric, Cotton Mather, in early Massachusetts. Their genealogy has been worked out and published. You are advised to strike out whatever you have about an English Elizabeth Mather in our lines. There were numerous German-speaking Matter or Motter people in our lines later, some named Elizabeth, but not in the early generations. Note that the English "Mather" would sound like the German "Matter" or "Motter" if pronounced by a German who couldn't manage the English "th" sound.
The first wife of Barthel Rauenberger/Raumberger was Anna Maria Brückner (which name was corrupted to Bricker in Pennsylvania). They were married, probably in 1742 in, or near, the village of Theilheim south of Würzburg in Bavaria. We have not yet located documentation of the marriage as it is not obvious where to look for it. Barthel was a Roman Catholic who was confirmed in the Catholic church in Theilheim on 27 May of 1725, which record gives the names of his parents. Anna Maria Brückner, though, was from a Protestant family (in the minority is Bavaria then as now). Their three children were baptized in the Catholic church in Ingolstadt in 1743, 1745, and 1747. We have copies of those records. We have no information on the time or place of Anna Maria Brückner Raumberger's death.
Barthel's second wife was Anna Sabina Häss/Haas/Hess of Albertshausen in Bavaria. This village is only a few miles from Theilheim. I visited there in 1981. Barthel and Anna Sabina were married in the Lutheran Church in New Holland, PA, on March 30, 1761. They had four more children, all born near New Holland and baptized in the Lutheran church there.
Our common ancestor, Balthaser/Baltser/Baltzer Raumberger/Ramberger/Romberger can be called an immigrant, but he arrived with his family in 1753 when he was only six years old. His first wife was Anna Maria Traut (not related to the English Trout family). The marriage was probably performed in the Lutheran church in New Holland (Earltown) in about 1770. Baltzer's second wife was Susannah Lehman (b. 19 Feb. 1771 in Trappe, PA). They were married on 15 June, 1798 by the pastor of the Lutheran church in Harrisburg.
Please note that I have given all this information in "Historian's Reports" to the family over a 20-year period, and also in my 2003 booklet "Finding Our Roots in Bavaria", which is currently out of print. All the information therein was painstakingly derived through more than 20 years of scholarly research. Much of what you find in old county histories and on today's internet is not reliably correct.
Sincerely,
John A. Romberger e-mail

3. JOHANN ADAM3 RAMBERGER (Bartholomaus2 Raumberger, J. Caspar1 Rauchenberger) was born about Apr 22, 1743 in Ingolstadt, Bayern, Germany. She was born on Oct 10, 1744 in Leacock Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, USA. She died on Sep 09, 1794.
Johann Adam Ramberger was baptized on Apr 23, 1743 in Ingolstadt, Bayern, Germany.
Johann Adam Ramberger and Esther Krey had the following children:
i. ANNA MARIA4 RAMBERGER was born on May 15, 1768 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, USA.

ii. ADAM RUMBERGER was born on Jun 24, 1770 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, USA. He died on Mar 19, 1832 in Franklin Township, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania, USA. He married Mary Ann Koffroth on Sep 09, 1794 in New Holland, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, USA (Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church). She was born on Apr 07, 1774 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, USA. She died on Mar 09, 1859 in Worthington, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, USA.
Adam Rumberger was baptized on Aug 05, 1770 in New Holland, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, USA (Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church).
Notes for Adam Rumberger:Mary Ann Koffroth was buried after Mar 09, 1859 in Worthington, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, USA (Worthington Lutheran Church Cemetery). She was also known as Polly Kaforth.
Notes for Mary Ann Koffroth:
Anna Maria was known as Mary Ann, and went by the nickname of "Polly". Ruth Heasley. a cousin from Franklin, PA, writes that "Her marriage to Adam Raumberger (so spelled), son of Adam Raumberger, in Carnarvon Township, appeared in the records of the New Holland Church. It stated that Adam and Polly Kafroth, daughter of Heinrich Kafroth of Honeybrook Township, Chester County were married on 9 September 1794". Ruth went on to say that she couldn't find anything about their lives from then until1808 when they appeared in the tax records of Franklin Township, Huntingdon County. The marriage is confirmed by Cocalico Hist Soc records. When Adam died in 1832 the records show that he had no assets. In fact the court records in Huntingdon County, PA show that he was listed with the insolvent debtors, which resulted in a forfeiture of any assets the couple might have had in order to satisfy their debts. This must have left Polly destitute, and Ruth discovered that she moved to Venango County, PA in 1835 and lived with her oldest son, Levi Adam Rumberger.
It would appear that Polly remarried, as Ruth discovered an old church record showing the marriage on April 30, 1835, of William Davidson and Mrs. Rumberger, both of Rockland Township. She is further listed on the 1850 Federal Census as Mary Davidson, age 76 years.
Her second husband died soon after this, as the court records show the probate of his estate filed January 26, 1852. Administratrix was "Mary A. Davidson", but a writing shows that she renounced by making her mark with an "X". In 1857 and 1858 William's estate was divided up between his thirteen children by a previous marriage.
Mary Ann (Polly) died March 9, 1859, and she is buried in the Lutheran Cemetery in Armstrong County, PA. Her tombstone reads: "Mary Ann Rumbarger (1773-1859) Consort of Adam". Why she was not buried under her second marriage name of Davidson is a mystery. Maybe the Davidson children didn't give her any assistance in the final seven years of her life. In her later years she was probably taken care of by her son, William Findley Rumbarger, who had become quite prosperous as the owner of a woolen mill.

Notes for Balthaser Romberger:
(1) "Baltzer Rumberger" and his family lived on a 90 acre farm. The house was described as a 'poor cabin' and assessed at only $20. The 'poor barn' was also assessed at $20. The land was valued at $540. In 1798 Baltzer (the elder) was probably about 55 years old. His first wife, Anna Maria (nee Traut), had been dead for some years and on 15 Jun 1798 he had married Susanna Lehman, a daughter of Jacob Lehman. We have birth and baptismal dates for four children born to this couple between 1799 and 1811. From other sources we expect that at the time of the 1798 Direct Tax, Baltzer's immediate family would have consisted of his (second) wife, Susanna, and five children by his first wife: Heinrich/Henry (25), Adam (23), Catherine (21), Baltzer, Jr. (19), and Johannes (13). However, Henry and Adam were already married and had their own farms and families (see below). Catherine may already have been married to George Matter and only Baltzer,
Jr. and Johannes may have been living at home. The tax records show that Henry's farm was adjacent to that of his father, Baltzer, Sr.April 1995 Romberger All Family Reunion Newsletter. Research by John Albert Romberger
Anna Maria Traut was buried in Berrysburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, USA (St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery).
Balthaser Romberger and Anna Maria Traut had the following children:
i. ANNA MARIA4 ROMBERGER was born on Jan 12, 1770 in New Holland, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, USA. She died on Feb 26, 1838 in Mifflin Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, USA. Anna Maria Romberger was buried after Feb 26, 1838 in Berrysburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, USA (St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery).
Notes for Anna Maria Romberger:
January 12, 1770 comes from a gravestone reading recorded by Cornelius Koppenhaver in 1975 and published in Oscar Stroh's "Dauphin Co. Tombstone Inscriptions", Vol. III. It says she was born "Jan. 12, 1770 and died Feb. 26, 1838 at age 68/1/14" which comes out accurateJohn Michael Matter was baptized on Nov 21, 1763 in New Holland, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, USA (Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church). He was buried after Feb 11, 1852 in Berrysburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, USA (St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery).
ii. HEINRICH ROMBERGER was born on Jul 12, 1773 in Earl Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, USA. He died before Jan 31, 1822 in Lykens Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, USA. He married Elizabeth Hoffman about 1794 in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, USA.
Heinrich Romberger was baptized on Aug 08, 1773 in New Holland, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, USA (Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church).
Notes for Heinrich Romberger:
Our Family in 1798 - Before the Internal Revenue Service was set up, attempts were made by the Federal Government to raise revenue by taxing property owners. One such attempt was the United States Direct Tax of 1798, the so-called "Window Tax." Assessments for this tax were based on inspections and interviews done in the fall of 1798. Assessors actually visited homes and farmstead, looked at the building, and sometimes measured them and counted their windows. The records for this tax in Pennsylvania (717 volumes) survived and are available on microfilm in the National Archives and also in the Pennsylvania State Archives. Records for most other states have been lost. Recently I located the microfilms of the 1798 Direct Tax records for Dauphin County (which then included what is now Lebanon County.) In some hours of scanning I found the assessments of all the Ramberger/Rumberger farmsteads in Wiconisco Valley (now Lykens Valley) and also the Ramberger lands in "Lebanon Borough and Township of Dauphin County" (which has since been divided in Lebanon Borough, Annville Borough, North and South Annville Townships and parts of other townships of Lebanon County.) I have not yet searched the records for all the town ships of Lancaster County. That should be done. The records for Dauphin County reveal that in 1798 four Ramberger/Rumberger farms existed in Wiconisco Valley:
Henry Ramberger's farm was only 50 acres. The land was assessed at $300. It's dwelling house was a 16x18 'cabbin" assessed at $40. There was no barn, only a 'poor stable' valued at $10. Henry's farm adjoined a farm owned by Samuel Boyer. In October Henry and his wife Elizabeth (nee Hoffman) had two small children: Peter (almost 3) and Johann Christian (1). Their third child, Elizabeth was born on 14 Dec 1798.This is from the April 1995 Romberger All Family Reunion Newsletter.
iii. ADAM ROMBERGER was born on Jun 03, 1775 in New Holland, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, USA. He died on Aug 07, 1867 in Pillow, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, USA. He married (1) ANNA MARIA WERNER before 1795. She was born about 1775. She died about 1807. He married (2) ANNA CATHARINA PAUL about 1808. She was born on Apr 10, 1788 in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, USA. She died on May 09, 1862 in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, USA.
Adam Romberger was baptized on Jul 09, 1775 in New Holland, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, USA (Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church). He was buried after Aug 07, 1867 in Pillow, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, USA (Grandview Cemetery).

It was adjacent to a farm owned by Jacob Snyder. Adam's house, described as a 'cabbin', was 20x16 and was assessed at $30. His 'poor stable' was valued at $10. In October of 1798 Adam and his wife Anna Maria (nee Werner) probably had three children: Eva (3), Anna Maria (2), and Susanna (1).

Notes for Balthaser Romberger:
Mr. Balthasar Ramberger unexpectedly died on stroke on June 16th, 1839 at his residence in Mifflin Township, Dauphin County, in the 88th year of his life. He is widely mourned. The family looses with him a faithful father, the Lutheran church an eager and active member, his neighbors a helpful and kind neighbor and the community an honorable man. The following day his mortal remains got buried in God's acre at St. John's Cemetery, where an uncommon amount of people attended the burial. The honorable J. P. Schindel preached emotionally about Tobit 4, 1 - 6.
His ash may rest softly.Translation from German language Harrisburg, PA newspaper dated June 27, 1839, page 3.
Elizabeth Sierer was buried after Feb 02, 1858 in Berrysburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, USA (St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery).

ELIZABETH ROMBERGER was born on Dec 27, 1800 in Pennsylvania, USA. She died on Feb 09, 1894 in Williamstown, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, USA. She married Peter Zimmerman before 1820. He was born on Nov 04, 1799 in Pennsylvania, USA. He died on Feb 24, 1877 in Williamstown, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, USA.
Elizabeth Romberger was buried on Feb 11, 1894 in Tower City, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, USA (St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery).
Notes for Elizabeth Romberger: Notes from the files of Tom AngeloWilliamstown Emmanuel Lutheran Church Records show a Burial "Elizabeth Zimmerman, Feb 11, 1894, age 93 years, 1 month, 13 days.
One paper in Tower City has a Williamstown notice which reads."Last Friday old mother Zimmerman died and was buried last Sunday in Tower City cemetery. She was taken first to the Lutheran church where Rev. Dale delivered an able sermon. She was 93 years of age." Friday was Feb 9th and Sunday was Feb 11th. This puts her birthday as Dec 27 1800. Elizabeth was one year younger than her husband Peter in the census records. The church and census record agree.
Elizabeth was a widow and lived with her son Jacob in 1880. The sponsor at Maria Anna's baptism was Samuel and Elisabeth Romberger. The death certificate of William H. Zimmerman states his father is Peter Zimmerman and mother is Elizabeth Romberger and wife Pheoby.
Peter Zimmerman and Elizabeth Romberger Research
I found on FamilySearch.org two ancestral files that show Elizabeth Romberger married to Peter Zimmerman:
Ancestral File 4VX9-F8X, Submission ID MM9R-LJD Ancestral File 339P-ZT9File 4VX9-F8X shows the following family:
Balzer Romberger (b. Dec 28, 1778, d. Jun 16, 1839) and Susan Elizabeth Seacrer (b. Nov 15, 1782, d. Feb 2, 1858). They have the following children:
1. Susanna Romberger (b. Apr 16, 1799, d. Feb 27, 1856) married to Joseph Weertman
2. Jacob Romberger (b. Jun 19, 1806, d. Nov 20, 1864) married to Margaret Rebecca Conrad (b. Jan 6, 1810, d. Jun 3, 1878)
3. Joseph Romberger
4. Samuel Romberger
5. Elizabeth Romberger married to Peter ZimmermanOnly the descendants of Jacob Romberger and Margaret Rebecca Conrad are listed.
File 339P-ZT9 shows the following family:
Balzer Romberger (b. Dec 28, 1778, d. Jun 16, 1839) and Susan Elizabeth Seacrer (b. Nov 15, 1782, d. Feb 2, 1858). They have the following children:
1. Susanna Romberger (b. Apr 16, 1799, d. Feb 27, 1856) married to Joseph Weertman
2. Ann Marie Romberger (b. Oct 12, 1803, d. Nov 29, 1871) married to Daniel Matter
3. Jacob Romberger (b. Jun 19, 1806, d. Nov 20, 1864) married to Margaret Rebecca Conrad (b. Jan 6, 1810, d. Jun 3, 1878)
4. George Romberger (b. Nov 12, 1807, d. Jun 16, 1833)
5. Daniel Romberger (b. Mar 13, 1810, d. Jun 16, 1833)
6. Benjamin Romberger (b. Jan 17, 1821, d. Feb 7, 1904)
7. Baltzer Romberger III (b. Dec 7, 1825, d. Jun 2, 1905)
8. Joseph Romberger
9. Samuel Romberger
10. Sarah Romberger married to Peter Bellis
11. Elizabeth Romberger married to Peter ZimmermanOnly the descendants of Jacob Romberger and Margaret Rebecca Conrad are listed.
Clicking through the names sometimes both ancestral files are combined.
It appears that the author of these files obtained sources that may have been in partial error, especially because there were numerous Balthasar Romberger or Bal(t)zar Romberger as they were commonly known.
The actual known children of Baltzar Romberger (b. Jul 5, 1747, d. Sep 12, 1833) and Susanna Lehman (b. Feb 19, 1771, d. 1849) are:
1. Susannah Romberger (b. Apr 16, 1799, d. Feb 23, 1856) married to Joseph Workman (b. Dec 1795, d. May 23, 1857)
2. Samuel Romberger (b. May 19, 1803) married to Mary Elizabeth Brown
3. Jacob Romberger (b. Jun 19, 1806, d. Nov 20, 1964)
4. Salome Sarah Romberger (b. Nov 22, 1808, d. Sep 3, 1890) married to Peter Bellis (b. Jul 13, 1799, d. May 10, 1874)
5. Joseph Romberger (b. Nov 7, 1811, d. Jan 20, 1890)One cause of the problem seems to be that Baltzar (b. 1747) and Baltzar (b. 1778) is they are both married to a "Susan". Also Baltzar (b. 1778) is actually the son of Baltzar (b. 1747) and his first wife Anna Maria Traut. Both Baltzar (b. 1747) and second wife, Susanna Lehman and Baltzar (b. 1778) and Susan Seacrer had children at the same time.
The Ancestral File 4VX9-F8X differs from the family of Baltzar and Susanna Lehman with a different Baltzar Romberger (b. 1778) and wife Susan Elizabeth Seacrer. However, the children match up except Elizabeth Romberger is not now a known child of Baltzar and Susannah Lehman and the Ancestral File does not list Salome Sarah Romberger.
The Ancestral File 339P-ZT9 differs from the family of Baltzar and Susanna Lehman with a different Baltzar Romberger (b. 1778) and wife Susan Elizsabeth Seacrer. In addition it has the families of Baltzar and Susanna mixed in with the family of Baltzar and Susan Elizabeth.
In Ancestral File 339P-ZT9 the first 6 children (if you include Elizabeth) are the children of Baltzar and Susanna Lehman and the last 5 children are the children of Baltzar and Susan Elizabeth Seacrer (differences noted to my records);
7. Ann Marie Romberger (b. Oct 12, 1803, d. Nov 29, 1871) married to Daniel Matter, my records show he was b. Sep 25, 1800, d. Jun 3, 1881)
8. George Romberger (b. Nov 12, 1807, d. Jun 16, 1833), my records show him as George John Romberger (b. Nov 12, 1807, d. Jan 5, 1873) married to Mary Hopple (b. Apr 29, 1807, d. Mar 15, 1873)
9. Daniel Romberger (b. Mar 13, 1810, d. Jun 16, 1833), my records show he was married to Eva Romberger (b. Jun 28, 1810, d. Sep 1876) she was the daughter of Adam Romberger and Anna Catherine Paul
10. Benjamin Romberger (b. Jan 17, 1821, d. Feb 7, 1904), my records show him as Bengohan (Benjamin) Romberger (same dates) married to Amalia Fisher (b. Aug 20, 1822, d. Jun 20, 1868)
11. Baltzer Romberger III (b. Dec 7, 1825, d. Jun 2, 1905), my records show (b. b. Dec 7, 1825, d. Nov 3, 1909) married to Sarah Orendorff (b. Nov 1, 1826, d. Jan 27, 1852)The other problem is that Baltzar and Susan Elizabeth Seacrer had 11 children. The six children that should go with the last 5 above are:
1. Anna Catherine Romberger (b. Oct 1, 1805, d. Aug 11, 1856) married to John Philip Matter (b. Apr 27, 1796, d. Jan 20, 1873)
2. Elizabeth Romberger (b. May 4, 1812, d. Aug 16, 1854) married to Jacob Hoy (b. May 26, 1808, d. Jun 19, 1889)
3. Susanna Romberger (b. Nov 30, 1814, d. Dec 9, 1845) married to John Bordner (b. Aug 3, 1814, d. mar 27, 1869)
4. Rebecca Romberger (b. Sep 17, 1816, d. Feb 8, 1887) married to Jeremiah Harner (b. Dec 19, 1813, d. mar 4, 1868)
5. Hannah Romberger (b. Nov 11, 1818, d. Apr 29. 1904) married to Jacob Woodside (b. Jun 13, 1813, d. Nov 2, 1852)
6. David Romberger (b. Sep 12, 1823, d. May 13, 1887) married to Anna Maria Schwab (b. Nov 21, 1828, d. Oct 6, 1903)Elizabeth Romberger (b. Dec 12, 1800, d. Feb 9, 1894) the wife of Peter Zimmerman could have been given the middle name of Susan Elizabeth Seacrer. However there was a child of Baltzar and Susan Elizabeth Seacrer named Elizabeth (b. May 4, 1812) who married and lived to 1854. It is hardly likely that Baltzar and Susan Elizabeth Seacrer would have named two daughters Elizabeth if both continued to live. So I believe that Elizabeth Romberger b. 1800 is not a daughter of Baltzar and Susan Elizabeth Seacrer.
Both Ancestral Files were submitted by Thomas A. Wolfgang Jr. a descendant of Jacob Romberger (b. Jun 19, 1806, d. Nov 20, 1864) and Margaret Rebecca
Conrad (b. Jan 6, 1810, d. Jun 3, 1878) and Michael Kersetter (b. Jan 1, 1813) married to Elizabeth Martz (b. Mar 29, 1814, d. Mar 20, 1898). Thomas Wolfgang listed the following sources:The Kerstetter Family - The Early Years 1727 to 1850 Third Edition 1996 Author: Steve Kerstetter
Repository: Northumberland County Historical Society LibraryRecord of John Castetter, Treverton Road, Coal Township, Northumberland
County, Pennsylvania
Repository: John Castetter's homeHowever, I am convinced that Peter Zimmerman's wife Elizabeth Rumberger is another daughter of Baltzar Romberger (b. Jul 5, 1747, d. Sep 12, 1833) and Susanna Lehman (b. Feb 19, 1771, d. 1849). Even though we do not have a baptismal record of Elizabeth, we also do not have a baptismal record of their daughter Salome Sarah Romberger (b. Nov 22, 1808, d. Sep 3, 1890). Both of their baptismal records could have been lost or not recorded.
Also and most importantly, Thomas A. Wolfgang Jr. seems to have oral tradition at least independently posted onto the Family Search website on Dec 28, 2002. This was well before I found the death certificate of William Henry Zimmerman with the name of his mother as Elizabeth Rumberger, which would corroborate his records. There is no reason for him to add Elizabeth Rumberger to the family of Baltzar Romberger and Susanna Lehman other than it was family oral tradition.
Peter Zimmerman was buried after Feb 24, 1877 in Tower City, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, USA (St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery).
