An Obituary Sierraville - John D. Amodei, a native of Italy died Friday, September 20, 1985 at age 87 at the Eastern Plumas District Hospital in Portola. He was a rancher for 62 years in Sierraville.
John was born July 23, 1898 in Sagrogna, Italy, and married Anna Maria Femminis in 1920. They imigrated to the United States in 1921, and settled in Loyalton for a short time.
In 1924 they moved to Sierraville. John and Anna had three sons, Vincent of Santa Rosa, Alvin of Sierraville, and Mervyn of Sweetwater, Nevada. They also had three daughters, Lucy Anderson of Sacramento, Rena Knox of Constantia, and Gloria Berry of Citrus Heights; Anna Maria died April 19, 1952.
On March 26, 1958, John married Elaine Hansen. They had a son Frank Amodei.
John is survived by his wife Elaine and all of his children; 21 grandchildren; and 27 great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial was said at 10 a.m. Monday, September 23, 1985 at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Loyalton. Burial was at the Sierraville cemetery.

There is a Dante Amodei who entered the U.S. through Ellis Island on 18 May 1921. He is not listed with any other passengers of the same name and his age and place of birth are not listed. He departed from Genoa Italy on 4 May 1921 and sailed on the S. S. Duca D'Aosta. He arrived at Ellis Island on 18 May 1921. The passenger listed directly underneath him on the ship's manifest is an Anna Fanni. No other information is given about her either, she may or may not be Anna Femminis According to Katherine Amodei, a granddaughter of John Dante Amodei, John did indeed arrive in the United States on the Duca D'Aosta from Genoa on 18 May 1921.
