Henry DeZELA was born 1851 in Chatham Ontario. At the age of 20, leaving behind at least one family member (a brother named William), he immigrated to Illinois in the U.S., residing a short while in Chicago and finally settling in Hancock County where in 1875 he married Mary Ellen EWING daughter of Matthew & Celinda (TRAMMEL) EWING.
Their union produced 5 children: Louis, Myrtle, Evelyn, Bertha, Maude and Etta but in 1905 Mary died and the youngest children were then raised by her sister Clara EWING HOLSCLAW
By the time of Henry's death in 1924 all the children were married and no longer living in Plymouth, IL. Henry himself passing away in a state hospital in Rock Island County where daughter Evelyn resided, a neighbor of Henry County where at least two other daughters lived with their new families.
The DeZela Line is one of my thickest BrickWalls and our entirely very small collection of photos are presented here in this album. Although some of the subjects are unrecognized, each page includes a bit of information about the subject(s) and/or the photo itself. Additional information and/or photos are most assuredly welcome!
