. . . . This indenture made this sixteenth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty between Reuben McClung of the County of Jackson and State of Georgia of the one part and James Cochron of the county and State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Reuben McClung for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred dollars to him in hand paid and before the sealing and delivery of this county the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained sold and conveyed to do by these presents bargain sell and convey unto the said James Cochron his heirs and assigns all that tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the County aforesaid on the waters of the oconee containing one hundred acres it being a tract of land originally granted to John McClung, granted and dated the 1st day of December 1812 beginning on a line and thence on W 17 chains 59 links to a post X thence N57 chs to a post and thence on 17 chains to the beginning corner to have and to hold said tract of land unto the said James Cochron his heirs together with all and singular the rights members and appurtinances thereof to this same in any manner belonging to his and their (as__?) proper use benefit and behalf forever in fee simple and the said Reuben mcClung for (__?__) all his (__?__) Executory & Administration the said bargained promises unto the said James Cochron his heirs and assigns will warrant aforesaid defend the right and title thereof against themselves and against The Claim of all other (penory?) whatever. In writing whereof the said Reuben McClung hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year above written.
