This work is an attempt to publish all the information available on the McClung descendants
of one branch of the McClung family: the Maryland McClungs, pp. 206-213 of The McClung
Genealogy, 1904. The information has been contributed by several Association members,
from applications for membership, previous McClung Association Journals and other sources. It
was then published in Journal volumes 30 and 31 in 1996-7.
It is our policy to reference all names to the page in The McClung Genealogy with the coding
system used therein: the first number refers to the order of birth within the family and the
second refers to the generation from the emigrant of that line. There will eventually be
an ID number assigned to this branch for indexing purposes.
The early Maryland McClungs resided at My Ladies Mannor located within 20 miles of the
present downtown Baltimore and is abbreviated in this work as MLM. The McClung Cemetery
is abbreviated Mc Cem. Other abbreviations are those in general use in genealogy work.
The progenitor of this lineage was born 1710 in Ireland. He was married in Ireland though
the name of his wife has not yet been located. He emigrated to America and settled in
Maryland. He died 1784 at My Ladies Manor (MLM), Md and is buried in Mc Cem, lot 93. In his
WILL he names these children: Joseph, Samuel, Ruth, Rebecca, Rachel,
Elizabeth, Nancy and Mary
4-2 THOMAS McCLUNG: This may be another son of Robert Sr. although in the McClung Genealogy (1904) he is given as a son of Robert Jr. With a birthdate given as 1753, Robert Jr. would have been only 13 years old when this man was born. His records are currently incuded in the Robert Jr. file until further clarification.
