ROBERT McCLUNG: LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT
Baltimore County, MD, Book 3, pp 589-90
In the Name of God Amen I Robert McClung of Baltimore County and State of Maryland being sick in Body
but of perfect sound mind and memory Do make this my last Will and Testament Hereby revoking all other
Wills before by me made [.] First and principally [I] commend my Soul to God who Gave it GTrusting in
a redemption through the Blood of his son, Jesus Christ And as to the Worldly Goods wherewith it hath
pleased God to possess me with I do dispose of them as follows after the payment of all my just debts and
my funeral charges [.] Itm [sic] I give devise and bequeath unto my beloved Wife Mary McClung the third
part of my Real and personal Esate during her natural life [.] Item I give and Bequeath unto my Children
Namely Joseph, Samuel, Ruth, Rebecca, Rachel, Elizabeth, Nancy and Mary the remainder part of my Real and
personal Estate To be equaly [sic]Divided Item it is my desire that after the decease of my Well beloved
Wife Mary that thirds be allso [sic] be devided [sic] Equaly [sic] by my Two good Substantial freeholders
which valuation shall be from under thier [sic] hands when so Valued and it is my Will and desire that the
said Valuation be Equaly devided amonst the aforesaid Children and paid by my Executor hereafter named[.]
Item it is my Will and desire that my son Joseph shall geet [sic] my Watch and Samuel the remainder part
of my Wearing Apparil [sic] Exclusive of thier Equall part[.] Lastly I do nominate constitute and appoint
my son Joseph McClung to be Executor of this my last Will and testament hereby revoking all other Wills
heretofore by me made[.] In Witness whereof I have hereunto I have set my hand and afixed [sic] seal this
sixteenth Day of Fabary [sic] in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty 1784

Signed sealed and published and delivered by the above named Robert McClung to be his Last Will and
testament in the presence of us who have signed our names at Witness thereto at his request in his
presents [sic] and in presents of each other

Baltimore County to Wit On the third Day of March 1784 came James Benningham subscribing Evidence to the
aforegoing last Will and Testament of Robert McClung late of Baltimore County deceased and made Oath &c
that he did see the testator sign and see this Will that he heard him publish pronounce and declare the
same to be his last Will and Testament that at the time of his so doing he was to the best of their
apprehensions of sound mind memory and understanding and that he subscribed his name as a Witness at his
request in his presence & in the presence of Richard Jones and John Demmitt.

In the Name of God Amen I John McClung of Baltimore County in the province of Maryland shoemaker being now of
sound mind and memory but weak and sick in Body First recommending my Soul to God, in Hopes of a sure
and safe resurrection and to be buried in a decent Christian like manner is my desire I Hereby Will and
bequeath unto my Brother Adam McClung one shilling Sterling also I Will and bequeath unto my Brother
Robert McClung one Shilling Sterling I likewise Will and bequeath unto my dear beloved Wife Mary McClung
all my Personal Estate that I may or shall be possessed with at hy decease more plainer saying all my money,
Cattle, Horses, Household Furniture, servants &c or such as I may or shall be possessed with making her my
whole sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament In Witness hereof I set my hand and seal this
Twentieth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred and Seventy seven.

On the 26 Day of November 1780 came Walter Perdue and William Ensor, subscribing Evidences of the
aforegoing last Will and Testament of John McClung deceased and made Oath on the Holy Evangels of &c that
they did see the Testator sign and seal and heard him publish pronounce and declare the same to be his last
Will and Testament that at the time of his so doing he was to the best of their apprehensions of sound
disposing mind memory & understanding & that they subscribed their names at his request in his presence
and in the presence of each other. Sworn before me.
