King Jesus and Joseph of Arimathea

Matthew 1:18 'Now the birth of Jesus Christ was in this way: when as his mother, Mary, was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. An angel came to Joseph in a dream and told him not to be afraid to take Mary as his wife.

The baby was born in Bethlehem in a stable and Mary laid him in a manger as there was no room for them in the inn. God had told them to name the baby 'Jesus' which means 'salvation'.

Wise men came from the East and inquired of King Herod 'Where is He That Is Born King Of The Jews?' They had come to worship Him.

Matthew gives the genealogy of King Jesus back through the Kings of the Old Testament to show that Jesus was born our King.

Joseph took Mary and baby Jesus to Egypt as Herod wanted to kill him. After Herod's death, Joseph took them to Nazareth where Jesus grew up. He began to teach and preach and perform many miracles. This caused quite a stir among the people.

Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a the foal of a donkey and many people covered the road with palm branches and their coats for him to ride on. They shouted "Hosanna to the Son of David".

Some turned against Him. He was arrested and brought to trial. Pilate said that he found no fault in Jesus. But the people wanted him crucified. Pilate turned Jesus over to the people.

Jesus was crucified on the cross between two thieves. He shed His blood for all people forever. John 3:16 tells us that God gave His son because he loved us and wanted to provide a way for His people to come to Him.

"For God So Loved the World
that He GAVE His ONLY Begotten SON,
should not perish, but have everlasting life."

Joseph of Arimathea, who was a great uncle of Jesus, went to Pilate and ask for Jesus body so that he could bury Him. Pilate gave him permission. Joseph prepared his body and placed Him in his own new tomb. Three days later Jesus AROSE and after 40 days on earth with his disciples he ascended to heaven. He said He would prepare a place for His people there to be with Him and the Father.
