BOOK IV
BOOK IV. 340
III. HANNAS ROYER, SON OF II. EMIG
III. HANNAS (JOHN) ROYER, p. 8, was born May 20, 1740;
and
was married to II. Barbara Kroetzer,(*) who was born
in Heidelberg
Twp., then Lancaster Co., but now Lebanon Co, Pa. He
resided on
the old homestead of his father, at the Middle Creek,
Lancaster Co.,
of which reference is made on p. 18.(+) He built a new
and substan-
tial limestone house on the old homestead, in 1790. The
walls of
the said house are almost, if not quite, as good as new.
I copied
the date on the house, Mar. 27, 1897. He died in the
year 1816,
and his wife died about 1823 or 1824. Their remains rest
in the
large cemetery at the Middle Creek Meetinghouse. He seems
to
have furnished a home for the consecrated Eld. Jacob
Stoll, of the
Brethren Church. See History of the Brethren of E. Pa.,
pp. 362-
364; also this book p. 16, foot note. He had a family
of seven
children, born as follows:(++)

* Barbara Kroetzer was the daughter of Joseph Kroetzer,
who emigrated to
America, in the ship Princess Augustus, arriving at Philadelphia,
Pa., on the
16th day of September, 1736; and settled three miles
southwest of Shaefferstown,
Leb. Co., Pa. He was the grandfather of my maternal grandmother,
Mariah
Moyer, nee Kratzer.
+ The birth record of old Hannas Royer's children, including
the date of his
father Emig Royer's death, were accidentally and unexpectedly
found and copied
by the writer in German on the inside lid of his old
German Bible, printed by
Christopher Saur, of or in Germantown, Pa., in the year
1763. Said Bible is in
possession of his greatgrandson, VI. Joseph Doster, p.
346, at the Middle Creek,
who had no knowledge as to whose family record this was.
Many leaves in front
and at the end were torn out.
++ According to the assessments of Cocalico Twp., in
1780, "John Reiher"
owned 100 acres of land, 2 horses, 3 cows, and had a
valuation of (pounds)329.
