PART I.
IV. JOHN ROYER, SON OF III. GEORGE.
IV. JOHN ROYER, p. 578, was married to Sarah Bittner,
b. Dec. 12,
1792; d. Nov. 12, 1859; daughter of Matthias and Sarah
Wiest
Bittner. He received, in 1816, one-half of his father's
farm, near
Reistville (Achey's Corners), but in 1831 moved to Center
Co., Pa.,
and bought a farm at the Red Mill, near Potter's Mills,
Potter Twp.
W. W. McCormick, brother of the wife of John Royer's
grandson VI.
Samuel Edwin Royer, of Altoona, Pa., has the wagon in
good condi-
tion in which they moved. John is described as a very
resolute old
gentleman. On one occasion his son wanted to do a little
more thresh-
ing after the father had told him to stop. It was simply
a slash of the
knife and a severed belt. If we remember aright, we were
informed
that some of his cows were sold, and they brought more
than he thought
they were worth. He just returned what he thought the
people had
overpaid. He and his wife were Lutheran in Center Co.
He was likely
reared Brethren, but there were no Brethren in Center
Co. They had
twelve children:
