(674) DELLCIE EDITH8 STANCLIFFE "Della" (Sherman7, Sherman6, George5, George4, James3, William2, James1)

Born Chasm Falls, Franklin County, NY Oct. 25, 1905, married Morrisville, Laoille County, VT July 6, 1938 WILLIAM M. BERRY son of William F. and Rose B. [Potter] Berry(1) born Waltham, Middlesex County, MA July 29, 1906.

Della taught school before marriage and during WWII she was employed at Hunters Point Naval Dry Docks in San Francisco, CA. William Berry was a mariner and served in the U. S. Navy during WW II between 1942 and 1945 as a Bosun's Mate First Class. He spent part of his tour of duty at Pearl Harbor calibrating compasses on U. S. Navy ships. After returning to civilian life, he "skippered yachts" and even after retirement he calibrated compasses for some of the major yachts on the East Coast. They lived 1995 at Seal Harbor, Hancock County, ME. For many years Bill and Della actively researched the Stancliff Family, and contributed greatly to our knowledge of this family.
