WELCOME TO THE RUFFNER FAMILY HOMEPAGE
THE OFFICIAL SITE OF THE HISTORY OF THE FAMILY OF PETER RUFFNER and MARY STEINMAN (1713-1778) (1714-1798) and The RUFFNER FAMILY ASSOCIATION Incorporated 1999
This is the story of an American family and its beginnings with the marriage of Peter Ruffner and Mary Steinman in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in 1739.
Eight children resulted from this union. These were the first Ruffners of our family to be born on this continent. Each of these children was born at Big Spring, Peter and Marys homestead along the Hawksbill in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. These children began their lives as British subjects, but most would live to see the formation of the United States of America and became highly productive citizens of this new nation of states.
On these pages, read about our pioneers Peter and Mary and some of their descendants. Also, read the information about the Ruffner Family Association (RFA) where you will find the interesting projects and events our organization sponsors. We will tell you how you may be a part of these activities as a member of the RFA. Or, read these pages strictly for their educational value. Our Family Events pages should be of special historical interest to you.
