Gaelic in the Bruce Dr. Archie MacKinnon's essay on the survival of Gaelic language and culture through generations of Tiree emigrants to Bruce County, Ontario.
Fort Steele A remarkable site of old photos and historical information on Fort Steele, a living museum in the Kootenay region of British Columbia. Fort Steele was founded as Galbraith's Ferry by John Galbraith following the discovery of gold nearby in 1864. While his sister (and my ancestor) Anna Jane Galbraith remained in Ontario and raised two families, John recruited his brothers James and Robert L.T., and his brothers-in-law James Clark and Charles Clark into the business. Besides the Galbraith and Clark names, you will also encounter T.T. McVittie who married into the Galbraith family.
Markham Berczy Settlers Association Site dedicated to the German settlers brought to the Markham area of Ontario in 1794 by William Moll Berczy, including my ancestors Frederick Helmkey and his father Johan Engelhard Helmkey.
