Death of Thomas Byers

Mr. J.W. Byers of this city, has received word of the death of his brother, Mr. Thomas Byers at Maxwell, Iowa, August 13, 1902.

He had been ill with bowel trouble but a few days. Mr. Byers was a former resident of Logan county, who moved to Iowa in the fifties. He leaves a widow and five married children. The mother of the deceased was the eldest daughter of Rev. Joseph Stevenson of sainted memory.1

Combs

Sarah Byers was born near Bellefontaine, Ohio on March 20th 1830. While still a child she united with the Presbyterian Church at Bellefontaine, Ohio. She was married April 6 1853 to G.K. Combs. The moved to Wayne County Iowa, in June 1868.. Seven children were born to this union, four of which are still living and it was a comfort to her to have them near her during her last illness. She passed peacefully away on May 1st 1909. Aged 79 years, 1 month and 10 days.2

Died April 15 at her home in Bellefontaine, after being ill for four years of arthritis and complications which developed.

She was born in Bloomfield township June 18, 1879, a daughter of John and Virginia Trout Dillon. She was married to Robert W. Zoz on June 6, 1926.

Surviving are the husband and two daughters, Mrs. Don Eads and Mrs. Louis Holzer, both of Bellefontaine.

Funeral services were conducted April 18 in Bellefontaine. Interment was made in Greenwood cemetery, DeGraff.3,4

Loucks of near Vinton Killed Thursday Morning. - Mr. W. A. Loucks, living about three miles west of Vinton in Huntington Township was out clearing on his farm Thursday morning in company with some workmen. About nine or ten o'clock he separated from the men who were with him and went to another part of the farm with his axe. At dinner time he failed to come in, and they went out to look for him and found that he had chopped down a tree and the tree in falling had draged a limb from another tree upon him and killed him. It was supposed he had been dead for two hours. He was a fine man about 65 years old and left a large family of adult children.3
