In the ancient burial ground at Westfield there was
standing, in 1902, a stone bearing this inscription:

IN MEMORY OF DEACON JOSEPH DEWEY
who died 25 Augst. 1799, aged 85 years, also
MRS. BULAH HIS WIFE
died 27 Oct. 1769, aged 55

From the Dewey genealogy:

8029. JOSEPH DEWEY, 2d, Deacon, son of Joseph, b. Oct. 7, 1714, at Westfield, Mass.; there d. Aug. 25, 1799, ag. 84, where he was a farmer on West Silver st.; Dudley ave. now passes over the site of his house, which was a large two-story building; a large red sandstone slab in Mechanic street old burying ground reads thus: "In Memory of|Dean JOSEPH DEWEY,|

Nov. 2, 1815, ag. 81.

Joseph married Beulah Sacket, daughter of Joseph Sacket and Abigail Bigelow, on 26 Jan 1737-26 Jan 1738 in Westfield, Hampden Co., MA. (Beulah Sacket was born on 30 Jan 1712/13 in Westfield, Hampden Co., MA and died on 27 Oct 1769 in Westfield, Hampden Co., MA.)

  Marriage Notes:

Weygant has the marriage date as Jan. 26, 1733 while the Dewey genealogy has the marriage date as Jan. 26, 1738.

Noting the birth date for the first child; the 1738 date seems more probable.

Joseph next married Hannah Phelps, daughter of Aaron Phelps and Rachel Bagg, on 25 Nov 1773. (Hannah Phelps was born on 12 May 1734 and died on 2 Nov 1815.)
