age 78 yrs. 8 mos. A black smith at Chester and Westfield after bought several places on Franklin St., The south corner of Elm in 1816 of the Trustees of the Ministerial fund in 1816; built the corner house and two one - story houses west on Franklin St. where his two daughters Mrs. George Whipple at 14 and Mrs. Seth Dewey at 22 lived. His blacksmith shop stood on the same lot and later on east side of Elm St. just south of present railroad bridge1890. The Latter shop owned later and used by William Phelps, his sucessor as the village blacksmith.
